Android commands 35 per cent share of the smartphone market

Android edges Apple’s iOS and other smartphone operating systems in the first quarter as the most desired mobile OS. Market research firm, Canalys says Android now commands a 35 per cent share of the smartphone market with 35.7 million units for the first quarter of 2011 as compared to 10 percent achieved in the the fourth quarter of 2010.

Google set to launch video-calling on Gmail Android app

Google is set to provide video calling feature on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread using GMail which will be announced at Google I/O in the Android developer conference to be held in San Francisco next month.
